NAES Corporation, a leading provider of 3rd party O&M services to the Independent Power Industry, is currently recruiting for an Auxiliary Technician at the Southampton Power Station, a 63 MW coal facility located in Franklin, VA.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The primary role of the Auxiliary Technician is to operate and maintain plant support equipment.  Monitor coal handling equipment, making adjustments and repairs as needed.  Monitor the plant waste water system and adjust as necessary to comply with town and state permits.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Operate and maintain all plant mobile equipment, including but not limited to bull dozer, front-end loader, locomotive, tractor, forklift, mobile crane and utility truck.

Operate and maintain the coal handling, lime unloading and ash disposal processes and ensure permit compliance.

Operate and monitor plant wastewater, chemical injection and discharge systems to ensure permit compliance.

Unload coal trains (typically one every five days) using the plant locomotive and coal unloading equipment.  Operate the bulldozer on various grades to effectively manage an active coal pile.

Coordinate on site rail operations and unloading with plant management and the railroad.

Perform all building and grounds maintenance and maintain housekeeping standards in all assigned areas of responsibility.

Complete Fuels training within one year.

Assist other plant personnel as required to support plant operations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Individual must be a high school graduate or equivalent. 
  • Must have two years experience with operating, industrial or excavating equipment (i.e., fork lifts, overhead cranes, front end loader and bull dozer). 
  • Must be safety and environmentally conscientious and must possess good oral and written communications skills. 
  • The individual will be required to furnish all basic and hand tools according to a list provided by the company.  Team skills are a must.
