NAES Corporation is the energy industry's largest independent, third-party provider of operations and maintenance services, and also serves the industry with specialized support services, gas and steam turbine inspections, mechanical shop repairs, electrical and mechanical construction and maintenance, and the placement of technical personnel. NAES is a full service provider offering a complete array of services dedicated to making facilities run more safely, reliably and cost-effectively.

Located in Coalinga, CA, the Chevron Plant is a 99 MBTU/hr solar steam production facility that will be used to supply service steam for an industrial application.  The facility is a demonstration plant for a future commercial application with expected capacity of 850 MBTU/hr for the same application.  A field of approximately 4000 mirrors will generate process steam, which will be used to heat service steam. 

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Solar Mirror Cleaning & Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance
and cleaning of all mirrors to remove dust and dirt that accumulates on the
surface of the reflector. Cleaning a mirror is accomplished by operating a cleaning vehicle configured to travel along an aisle defined by the mirror arrangement.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of all mirrors including operating a cleaning
vehicle comprised of a chassis and cleaning end-effector, e.g., a spray and /or
brush assembly Conduct inspections and testing of mirror drives and positioners.

Maintain logs as assigned. Enter into and retrieve data from the plant CMMS system

Report any abnormal or irregular conditions that develop during the progress of the work
and take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions.

Assist O&M Technicians as required.

Complete other tasks as requested by the O&M Technicians and O&M Superintendent.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

This position operates from established and well known procedures, performing duties
under general direction and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed
operating procedures and guidelines. The position encounters recurring work situations of moderate complexity, with occasional variations from the norm.

The Solar Mirror Cleaning & Maintenance Technician must perform work in a safe
manner resulting in no accidents and be in compliance with all environmental
permits at all times. This position must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and provide suggestions for plant improvement.

All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to
do the job right the first time and to ensure the customers' needs are being
met.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Solar Mirror Cleaning & Maintenance Technician reports to the O&M Superintendent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical requirements include; working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair
and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds. Protective equipment such as hard hats,
safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and others must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.

This position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility
of weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, work load and plant
conditions. "On Call" status will periodically be required.

All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to understand and follow procedures and instructions specific to the area of
assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school is required. Experience with mobile heavy equipment is highly desirable. Two years experience in power plants or other industrial settings is desirable. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have excellent organizational skills.
