NAES Corporation, a leading provider of 3rd party O&M services to the Independent Power Industry, is currently recruiting for a Plant Operator for the Bridgeport Energy Center.
Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the Bridgeport Energy Facility is a nominal 490 MW combined-cycle electric generating facility. The plant features two Siemens V84.3 combustion turbines and one Siemens steam turbine generator.
Job Description
The responsibilities of the Plant Operator include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform operations on plant equipment and auxiliaries as directed, such as starting, stopping and clearing equipment for work.
Make routine chemical readings and tests.
Check cause of mechanical problems and perform minor mechanical maintenance.
Prepare maintenance requests for equipment needing repair.
Change charts, ink recorder pens and perform general housekeeping duties.
Perform other duties as directed such as preparing reports, logs and time sheets.
Participate in on- or off-the-job training as required.
Work both rotating and standard shifts, as required, with periodic shift changes.
Ensure compliance with the Environmental Compliance Program.
Perform necessary housekeeping functions as necessary.
Perform call outs and over time as needed to support plant operations.
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent and three (3) years of work related experience.
Knowledge of the principles of electricity and mechanics and working knowledge of power plant equipment.
Knowledge of procedures to start, stop, control and isolate plant equipment during emergencies and for repairs.
Demonstrated knowledge of power plant equipment or equivalent.
Demonstated knowledge of typical industrial computer software including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, or similar Windows based applications.
Knowledge of first aid practices, plant safety rules and procedures.
Capable of responding to and assisting in plant emergencies.
Capable of climbing stairs and ladders.
Capable of physically demanding work and working at heights.
Capable of entering and working in a confined space.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. of weight.
Capable of wearing a respirator.
Able to work a rotating shift schedule.
Able to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication.
Possess a drivers license.
Able to pass a physical examination and drug screening.
The following qualifications are highly desired for this position:
Previous experience with large gas turbine and steam turbine.
Five or more years of power plant experience as a Plant Operator.
